Projection on the Bridge - Immersive Surfaces - As Above, So Below

A one of a kind public art experience, a projection mapping installation for multiple surfaces and multiple dimensions. .

Unfolding like an animated modern Botticelli painting, flowing above our heads and spreading outwards in every direction, “As Above, So Below” immersed viewers in the architecture of the Manhattan Bridge.

Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising's Image of Women

I'M TIRED OF WOMEN BEING OBJECTIFIED AND USED AS PROPS.  NO ONE LOOKS LIKE THE PICTURES YOU SEE.  TAKE A CLOSE AT ADVERTS AND THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE PORES.  THIS IS A MUST SEE FOR ALL WOMEN.

Shit Girls Say - Episode 1

This is so funny.

Suicide?

Horrible topic, but people often feel depressed over the holidays and wonder whether to end it all. Many do. If you are feeling depressed, there is help available. You may feel like you are alone and nobody is as bad a person as you are, or is as hard done by as you are, and you are right that you are unique and special and feel bad in unique and special ways. But you are not unique in feeling alone and hurting and feeling that life is not worth it.

If you are feeling disconnected from others, if you feel isolated even when people are around you trying to help, you are not alone, others have felt alone and apart just like you. There is a way back, there is a way to connect with people again.

Others have felt what you are feeling and have gotten through it with help. You can get help too. You can get through it, you can be happy again.

If you are contemplating suicide, do not feel embarassed. Do not feel you will be branded for the rest of your life. Do not fear being shamed. Simply call 1-800-273-TALK (8255). In Canada 1-800-448-1833. In the UK dial 08457 90 90 90. In the Republic of Ireland dial 1850 60 90 90. In Australia, call 13 11 14. You will talk to someone.

They will listen. I know you want to be heard. Let them hear you. Let them listen. Call them now.

Journey to Seven Light Bay - Primal Rhythm

Primal Rhythm

The Adobe Museum of Digital Media is thrilled to announce the opening of their latest exhibition, Journey to Seven Light Bay, by Japanese artist Mariko Mori. This exhibition will take visitors through Mori's artistic process, from her past works to her latest work in progress, Primal Rhythm, a site-specific installation off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. Visitors enter the Tida Dome, designed specifically for the museum's atrium by Mori. This serves as a portal to Seven Light Bay, providing a glimpse of the new project before it’s completed in the real world.

4 Ways the New Twitter Is Taking on Facebook

Twitter once differentiated itself as an “information network” while Facebook defined itself as the “social graph.” But just as Facebook added real-time features that make it look more like Twitter, Twitter has inched into its competitor’s turf.

Conserving Africa's Wildlife Through Photography

How often do we see exquisite imagery of animals that isn't a "When Animals Attack" special? Photographer Nick Brandt says, "The emphasis has generally been on capturing the drama of wild animals IN ACTION, on capturing that dramatic single moment, as opposed to simply animals in the state of being." I agree with Brandt and appreciate his stunning contributions to wildlife photography.

The native Londoner first discovered the beauty of Africa's majestic creatures sprawled out on the breathtakingly unaltered landscapes in 1995, when he was still making music videos, practicing his formal training in film. It was in 2000 that that he shifted his medium of choice to photography. Since then, Brandt has documented the extraordinary wildlife of Africa and its unfortunate decimation. His latest set of images include portraits of poachers, hauling their inventory of giant ivory tusks, as well as decomposing carcasses of wildlife, including those of flamingos, bats, giraffes, and varied beasts.

It isn't all gut-wrenching photography, though. Brandt manages to capture extraordinary visuals of these animals from a rare, intimate perspective. Over 60 photos!
